If I Stay {book & movie review}

Alright. Here's the thing. I wasn't the biggest fan of the book.
I honestly don't understand the hype, it took me sooo long to get through and it seemed to drag on and on and on. It disappointed me on so many levels. I expected it to be 100% different, so I guess that's my fault, but it just ughhhhh I expected so much more!

However the movie was seriously b r e a t h t a k i n g.
It was literally the only book-to-movie conversion
that was actually better than the book!!!
My mind was completely blown.
Like wow. It was just wow.
Amazing.

 {Please do yourself a favor and go watch it as soon as you possibly can}

But I went ahead and purchased the second book in hopes that it's automatically 10x better than the first one?
Yeah, not the best logic. I Know.
But I'm a somewhat optimistic reader.

Once I finish reading the second book I'll update this post with my thoughts and opinions on that one as well.
*fingers crossed that it's better*

But the movie::
The cast was perfection, the soundtrack was so on point, and Jamie Blackley was just wow

{::UPDATE::}

Where She Went
by Gayle Forman

Holy. Crap.
THIS IS SERIOUSLY SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE LIKE HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!
I bought and finished this book in less than 24 hours and I'm just completely stunned at how much more of a storyline
it had compared to the first one.
It was beautiful and the end was just. .wow. .I just I loved it.
Definitely one of my favorites!

Book It

[To start off, I'd like to thank the person who gave me this post idea, you know who you are.]
*wink wink*

It's no secret that I like to read. You can see that all over my Twitter, Goodreads, and Instagram accounts. With this being said, I'm extremely shocked to say that I've never put a list of my favorites on here. Like come on, that's insane! So here it is. .the list of my favs.
{below each image will be a description of the book from amazon}

1. thirteen reasons why
by jay asher

Ok this book tho. It's super depressing but will forever reign as one of my favorites.
{Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker - his classmate and crush - who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah's voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out why. Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah's pain, and learns the truth about himself-a truth he never wanted to face.}

2. city of bones
by cassandra clare

{When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...}

3. the fault in our stars
by john green
Cliche I know.
If you want to get your heart ripped out of your chest, this is the book for you.
It is a real tear jerker. I cried for hours.
{Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.}

4. the book their
by Markus zusak

This is not my type of book whatsoever, but I ended up loving it. It was completely different than anything I've ever read.

{It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still. Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.}

5. man repeller seeking love. finding overalls.
by leandra medine

Yay! Finally fashion related!
{Silk parachute pants. A gold lamé jumpsuit. Ankle boots with fringe. Were these fashion-forward items sending men running in the opposite direction? Maybe, but Leandra Medine never cared. Slipping into drop-crotch shorts and a boxed sequin blazer in the dressing room of Topshop in downtown Manhattan, a brokenhearted Leandra had an epiphany. Looking in the mirror, she suddenly realized she didn't have a boyfriend because of the way she dressed. And the more she thought about it, the more she realized that such outfits said a lot about her life-romantic and otherwise. Now, in her first book, the acclaimed blogger and fashion darling recounts her most significant memories through the lens of her sartorial choices. With her signature sass, blunt honesty, and some personal photos, Leandra shares details of when and why she realized her grandma's vintage Hermès ostrich skin clutch could hold much more than just keys and a cell phone. Through it all, she proves you don't need to compromise even your most repellent qualities to find your way into that big white dress (and an organza moto jacket). See? You can have your yeti and wear it, too.}

happy reading!

Review Rage

{Ok so I'm going to try to do this new segment once every three months or so where I review a few things that have been 'all the rage' lately. It can range from being a popular movie or a book to being new makeup product or a food item. Yeah. Let me know what you all think!}

1. Divergent
Ok so first off obviously I have to talk about Divergent. Duh.
divergent

Ok if you haven't seen the movie: a. what is wrong with you, and b. you may not want to read this.
It will contain spoilers.
I'm going to go ahead and tell you all that I despised the movie. I did not like it. At all. Mainly because I've read the book twice [and loved it both times] but it strayed soooo far from the book. They added some insane things that never happened ever. Jeanine never got stabbed in the hand in the book. She originally wasn't even in that scene. They also changed the way her mother died. She was supposed to die fearlessly, not cowering in her daughters arms. Also they left important characters and events out! Like Uriah and Edward weren't even in there! Edward was supposed to be stabbed in the eye with a butter knife for crying out loud. It's an important event!!! And it didn't happen! And at the end of the movie, they never ended up with the hard dive. That's super important for the next movie. Like come on! Ugh. But I thought the casting was ok. Tris was supposed to be short and Christina was supposed to be tall. They were both the opposite. But if you haven't read the book [which I highly suggest doing so] then you'll probably enjoy the movie more, considering you won't have unnecessarily high hopes.

2. God's Not Dead
God's Not Dead

Ok so first off wow. This movie was wow. Soooo uplifting and eye opening and I loved it in every way possible. I teared up so many times just sitting there watching the movie. It was insane. My only complaint would be that some of the acting was kinda..not terrible..but iffy. Some of the actors didn't do the best job, but it was still amazing. But otherwise, the message and point got across beautifully! I really really enjoyed this movie. It opened my eyes in ways I never thought were imaginable. I feel so much closer to God, and I've found a new strength of faith in my life. I love it. I suggest everyone watch this movie at some point in you life, whether now or twenty yeas from now, please watch it.

3. Looking For Alaska
This book was so hyped up. I don't get it.
john green

Overall, this book was not what I thought it was going to be. I was definitely disappointed. Not in the writing, because John Green has one of the best writing styles out there in my opinion, but in the plot. I wasn't a fan with how everything turned out. Don't get me wrong I liked the book, but I definitely wouldn't add it to my favorites list anytime soon. I don't know. I think it's one of those that's either a hit or a miss. Sadly, it was a miss for me. Which was so depressing because I wanted to like this book so bad. Oh well, maybe you all will connect with it in a way that I didn't.

Well that's all, folks! Let me know if you guys enjoy posts like this one. I'll be sure to do more like it!
OH and let me know if any of you saw either of the two movies or read the book that I listed above! I'd love to hear your opinions on them!

Serious Sas & Messy Magda Book Review!

Hello! I was presented with the chance to review a children's book from an author I have great respect for and I totally took it!  The book is Serious Sas & Messy Magda by Marianne de Pierres and  Rachel Annie Brigden. The book is about a serious, plain jane child (Sas) with a crazy, wild, and fun mother (Magda)! The differences between them cause Sas to be embarrassed while her mother is around.

This book is beyond adorable! The illustrations are extremely colorful and creative. I, at 15, thought it was a super cute read! The book definitely provides an amazing message that kids need to learn at a young age: if you continue to be yourself, you will be loved for who you are. It also shows that not everyone is the same and I love that. This is definitely a book every kid needs to read!

I know Christmas was yesterday, but if you have yet to get a little one a gift, definitely consider purchasing this book! It's available on Amazon here and here. It's also available from the Book Depository here and Fishpond here.
